today i've been on the roof, i have to replace that dish on top of yellow holder, it is 128cm offset, for Kovosat prime focus 120, i hope yamal sun at that moment will reach, still that few russian fucking tps, but as always and i am sure i am not the only one, it's not about tv watching, but about catch something new ... in my case "new" only in this area... Sat prowling dx, is like fish hunting, finally they leave that fish back to water :) sometimes :) ? i don't know it is for me not so funny hobby, but basically it is same, reach tps at end limits just for FEEL :), and catch fish just for photo. Yamal in this moment is so huge like fish with weight 100kg :), but at the moment i will reach it, it would be not funny for me for long time ... 95e dreaming :) i am sure.
i have four pieces of pf kovosat, so that yellow blue gayish edition could be appropriate for that fucking satellite.

A souvenir from Austria, it's a 16GHz 120 cm active size Andrew, originally made for Nokia. My neighbour is not willing to turn off her wifi router. Since I am sensitive to wifi, I suffer from headaches. Since she's an advocate of wifi technology, I will demonstrate its health benefits to her by turning the dish towards her house. Happy new year, you slut!

By way of introduction I must remark that I have almost no attitude to this hobby. It must have been yet another stroke of fate, so I succumbed and it turned out as follows. A couple of weeks ago I sold a Kovosat 120 and was left with only three more dishes, which made me happy. On the other hand, I was “forced” to buy another Kovosat 120, a dish from the time when I was living in Trnava in the good old days of satloverTT. On the highest floor next door but one in my apartment building was a Kovosat 120 that had been there for some 15 years. Several days ago I visited the owner and asked him to sell it to me. The other side of the apartment building is being covered with polystyrene so the dish is down. I don’t know what purpose it could serve, maybe I just want it because I have been looking at it for a long time.
The guy didn’t want to sell it – I don’t know why – even though he had a 1 m offset similar to the Gibertini 100 in his cellar. He gave the offset to me because I promised him that I would make his Kovosat ready for digital reception. From this I infer that he hasn’t been using it for quite some time. I threw away the old analogue system (the polarotor and the single-polarity LNB with an inappropriate irradiator) and offered him from my collection three aluminum tubes with the original irradiator and an Inverto Flange 0.2 dB. In May I’m supposed to – not exactly of my own volition – mount it for him. I agreed to do it, perhaps because I wanted to have a remainder of having worked on the apartment building. He admired my Hirschmann 180 and the 2 m beauty plus four small dishes with the diameter of about 40 cm. He may be in awe of me, which makes me laugh. He asked me whether I own a company and do dish-mounting work. I told him it was just a hobby and I wanted the dish because I’d never had its like … He doesn’t know I have three such dishes and I wanted his one only as a vague remainder of the past.
So I’m left with three Kovosats in stock = the balcony plus his offset. The lower arm made from a 2 x 3 cm jokl profile I bought at alfun.sk was missing. I didn’t know the distance so I went up on the roof where we have our Gibertini 100. Dimension-wise and rim-wise it’s the same dish as his offset but the back holder has a different design. So I made all the measurements and my offset is ready for tests.
The other thing gave me more pleasure. I have a Kovosat 140 which is as hard to get as a Volga gaz 24 V8 designated for the KGB – literally. I had been seeing the dish for a long time mounted on a family house past the town of Piešťany. The owner had dismounted it recently so I visited him and ask him if he would sell it. My decision was purely motivated by the past but I’m glad anyway. He sold it to me and said he had a “better” one. By that he meant an 80 cm offset attached to a diseqc motor. He had no idea what a dish he used to have – probably due to the price of the Kovosat 140 and the replacement.
So my collection now contains a Kovosat 140. However the tripod is weathered, the central sheet-metal LNB holder triangle is rusty and there’s no irradiator. So at alfun.sk I bought a 9 m long and 14 mm thick duralumin rod cut up into three 61 cm pieces designated for Kovosat 140. For the three Kovosats 120 I got 9 pcs of these 50 cm duralumin rods cut up. I got holes 8.2 mm in diameter and 40 mm deep bored into these rods using a lathe. I also got the rods fitted with a 10 mm long thread for the bolts.
The sheet-metal triangles for the Kovosats along with the irradiators come from a former 90s satellite shop called Dursat that I visited a couple of years ago with nothing special on my mind. The owner was selling out the stock that had been accumulating since the company started operating and gave me a boxful of these triangles and irradiators (20 triangles and 20 irradiators). Now I can’t find them in my garage! I must come up with something, however! So many dishes and no irradiators? This just can’t be
The dishes just seem to appear in my life by themselves. It’s a pity Alfa Romeos don’t do this, too. I used to have three of these cars – a 156, another 156 and a 166. Those were half-wrecks fit to be repaired, which was the hobby’s main purpose. But one is not interested enough when he has them all lined up in his yard and he can’t get attached to them all in the same way he would to a single “piece” By the way, in the last two years I had 18 of them.
I will test the dishes, the Kovosat 140 and the offset 100. Then I will put them on the balcony where, while smoking, I will look at the past that’s just gathering dust, not presenting itself as a real alternative. Maybe one day…

The tests were above my expectations —Kovosat 140 is more than 20 years old and its geometry has changed over the years, but the results clearly show that the Kovosat 120 and 140 dishes are some of the best prime focus aluminum dishes around.
I performed the testing at 26 east, 11919H and measured approx. 9dB, which is amazing (max. 6dB on kovosat 120).
Due to the fact that my view of Nilesat is blocked by my neighbor’s house, the Nilesat results can be publicized only after mounting the dish on the roof instead of the ribbed Prodelin 120. It is an excellent dish, bud I cannot bitchslap the LNB into position and center it in the focus because the supporting rods are hand made — the gain is only around 100 cm ...

I also tested a 1 m offset dish, almost identical to Gibertini 100cm, at 26e 11919H and measured around 3dB, so I shortened the bottom arm and reahced more than 5dB — the dish is in an excellent shape.

The dishes are ready to be used, but again, my past experience has been confirmed — I have a great know-how :-), but my focus shifted elsewhere. In the past, I couldn’t sleep just to install the dish the very next day, but after these tests, I am rushing nowhere because I don’t have the actuator. It is just my experience, which has always been the case. I shouldn’t have sold the dishes, be it Mabo or the 2m beauty. My current dish is a mere Fe Offset 80cm dia on a diseq actuator, two Prodelin 120 dishes, three Kovosat 120 dishes, Kovosat 140 and Al Offset 1m, which makes the impression I am still taken by the hobby.
The fact of the matter is, I couldn’t care less, I simply cannot trash it just because of its value, but other than that, it is Alfa Romeo !

yesterday's evening i installed this dish what i bought many years in budapest it is aluminium offset cca 40x50cm to catch cnn bbc skynews cnbc from astra 19.2e behind the window, because on wall is already polystyrene so this is easy solution.
all tps reach about 7-8dB after closing window it is 3.7-4.5dB max. winter is gone so that could be no problem to watch it in rainy weather ... if not it's not my problem. they don't want to mount on the wall, so this it :)
ps i like openbox x-540 perfect receiver for dishes tests with blindscan 700-44950, sharp sensitive tuner.

Obrazek
Obrazek

Bardzo fajne porównanie: 1m vs 1.4m
Daje to dużo do myślenia, a w zasadzie jestem już przekonany, że także muszę mieć u siebie 1.5m na dachu. :hmmm:
